Tom Nagy has logged more helicopter hours than many commercial helicopter pilots. Over the years, we’ve produced numerous shoots for Tom, on the ground and involving cherry pickers (Tom loves heights!). XL Capital required aerial landscape photography, and the scouting had to be reliable. Visually compelling locations – such as the world’s largest telescope, Europe’s longest rail and road bridge, and other architectural gems – had been researched and approved by the client. Mary was hired to establish contact with the locations and negotiate usage. Once the paperwork was in order, she travelled to each location and scouted them via helicopter. Having experienced the locations herself, she was able to convey crucial information to the photographer first-hand, which made for a successful shoot devoid of nasty surprises. The expansive campaign won countless awards.
